About me
Welcome everyone! My name is Kristin Hammar and I am very excited for my fourth year at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Academy! This is my ninth year as a full time teacher. Prior to coming to St. Charles, I was teaching at St. Joseph Catholic School in Erie.
I have had such wonderful experiences teaching in Catholic schools and I'm looking forward to another great year! I am excited to see all of the returning students and the families of my 6th graders! I also can't wait to see the 5th graders in Social Studies for the first time. We have some new friends joining us this year - Welcome to them!! This year I will also be teaching 8th Grade Religion! I look forward to guiding the students through their Confirmation Sacrament. Welcome back 8th Grade families that may be checking back to this website! My husband, Will, and I live in Carleton. We have two boys and a Lab - Aja. We are active in our local community and are members of Divine Grace Catholic Church, St. Patrick Parish, in Carleton. Before I became a teacher I worked in accounting/finance and, after having children, I decided I wanted to pursue a teaching career. I received my teaching degree from Eastern Michigan University and I am also endorsed by the state of Michigan to teach Social Studies! I will always work to create a learning environment where students can experience new challenges that will help them build on their knowledge. I look forward to exploring our faith, not only in the subject of Religion, but by identifying the many ways that the Bible and the teachings of Jesus can be incorporated into all of our subjects - especially History/Social Studies! I believe every child should be valued and treated with respect and I will work to ensure that our classroom is a safe and fun, yet disciplined, place for all! |
Words of Inspiration
Be joyful in hope,
patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. - Romans 12:12 Pope Francis'
Five Finger Prayer Guide Prayer for Students
Lord our God,
in your wisdom and love you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. Send your Spirit upon these students and fill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies and draw ever closer to you, the source of all knowledge. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. |
A Family Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of our family. Enlighten our hearts and minds that we may live more fully this vocation of love. In our daily life and work, may we reflect the self-giving love which you, O Father, eternally show with your Son and the Holy Spirit. Let your love be evident in the peace that reigns in our home and in the faith we profess and live. May our family always be a place of generosity, understanding, forgiveness and joy. Kindly give us the wisdom and courage to be witnesses to your eternal design for the family, and grant that the Holy Family of Nazareth may always guide our path of holiness as a family. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen. |
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
